Back to Reality tomorrow

I have to say this has been one of the longest breaks I've had from work for the holidays, well ever. Being a nurse we usually don't get time off like this. Somehow this year we did, and I've absolutely LOVED it! I can honestly say I haven't been able to relax and lounge like this for a long time. I am honestly kind of sad it's over because it has been the best.

However tomorrow is back to the grind and the real world if you will. Starting at 0440, it's up for work and time to be a Nurse again :) After work means back at the GYM full force. I did take a mini vacation from it for about 2 weeks for the holidays. However I have been keeping very active, and am very excited to get back to the grind. I even have a new iPOD that Santa brought me to use! ;) It's even got a pedometer so I can keep track of mileage etc. How cool is that!?

So goodbye wonderfully awesome Holiday break, you were very good to me. And of course........GO RAVENS!!!!!!!!!

Putting Myself in A Bubble

I don't know what to do.... I feel like I've been surrounded by SO much negativity lately, and I can't stand it. It's mainly at work, and It's bad. I don't understand it, It's Christmas time and we have so much to be thankful for. Why is everyone so damn miserable?

I walk into work and am chipper, making the morning coffee, and It starts already. Why? Literally at not even 5:45 in the morning and people are complaining, hating life, and just being all around mean. Don't get me wrong, we ALL have bad days, and no one is ever 100% in a great mood. However it's all the time lately, all day, nothing positive.

It's starting to wear me out. I try so hard to not let it bring me down, but am sinking. I wish I could just put myself in a bubble all by myself. That way all these negative people wouldn't get to me and try to bring me down. Although, knowing them they'd all be carrying pins.

No more negativity! Please!?

First Day Back

Well today I decided to give it a whirl and go back to work. Exactly one week ago today is when I was at work, and knew I had pnuemonia and was admitted. It was great to stay home and rest, especially loved being home with the dogs. However, I was beginning to go a little crazy and was happy to get back to work today.

Things went really well overall. The staff, doctors, etc. were all so awesome and happy to see me. I definitely am lucky to say that I truly love my job. I only had a handful of patients to take care of today, so it was a nice way to gently get back into my groove. I was able to all the IV's at work with no problems, ahh what a nice day.

So tonight my Mom offered to come over after work and make me dinner. Woo Hoo! Nothing like mom's cooking. However my Dad called and said he got some fresh Maryland Crabs Steamed! So now they are bringing over steamed crabs for dinner instead. Totally made my day!! :)

Well overall I'd say it feels great to be almost back to my normal. Tomorrow is Halloween at work, including dressing up and making food. Yay!

Did I mention that I blew out on my PFT monitor today and got a 1.99!!!??? That's right!! Couldn't be happier :D

All Good Things

Today was a really good day plain and simple. It was just one of those days where unexpected nice things just happen all around. Here's some of them:

~I had a deaf patient today with and interpretor. Before the patient left after her procedure they came over to sign and interpret to me that I was the "Best Nurse" it made my day.

~Then one of the my favorite doctors came to me today to ask when my next vacation was so he could plan our works annual summer party around it. I was so flattered and touched by that. Have I mentioned I really love my job and who I work for?

~I got the chance to catch up today with one of my oldest guy friends. We've been friends for about 20 years. We'd been playing phone tag and it was just nice to catch up on life.

~We had awesome and I mean awesome thunderstorms here, including monsterous hail. Yes I love storms.

~I laughed so much and so hard at work today that my muscles actually ached. Now mind you I'm always laughing but today was to a whole new level.

~My legs hurt hurt hurt hurt hurt so baldy from my recent mile runs. Makes me very happy to feel a difference on many levels. I decided however today my legs would get a much deserved break. I think I heard them do a happy sigh of relief ;)

Back to the Grind

Barely felt any kind of sinus issue today thankfully. I've been keeping on top of the Zicam, and Sudafed routine, along with all the routine meds. My nurse at Hopkins called me today and said that I'm already doing everything the recommend, so that was good. The only problem is that this was a different nurse that the one who told me they'd call me in the "just in case" med. Hmm not sure what I should do since the nurse from today didn't see that it was necessary. I know it's not necessary right now, but we're going away and I do like the idea of having an antibiotic in case this sinus stuff comes back and or turns into an infection while we're away. What to do what to do....

First day back to work after a nice 3 day weekend. It was nice for the most part, but I could just do with out my bosses "negative nancy" attitude all the time. She's such a downer! I try not to let people like that get to me, but sometimes it just bugs me.

Well the rain wouldn't let me run outside today or ride my bike. That's ok though, I did the Eliptical for 25 minutes and ran my butt off! Also did my 2 10 lb. weight lifting. I think I need to do some research on beneficial upper body exercises with my weights. I do about 3 different things with my weights right now, but I'd like to perhaps find something that would be really good for me to do. Thoughts?

It's official

Break time is over. Back to the grind tomorrow, ugh. No more days off, no more "light days" with doctors off, no more short weeks, blah. I hate that the holidays are officially over :(

Time to get back to the grind and get focused!
