Today's the day!

Warmer temperatures, no wind, out of work reasonably means I got to run! That's right, the "couch to 5K" started today and it feels great. Surprisingly I had no problems at all. I'm hoping that's because I've been working out and lifting small weights. Scott even went running with me and he hates to run. He was "motivated" by me he said, but he still hates running, ha ha.

Tomorrow after work Beth is coming over and we're doing Day #2 of the training. Same thing, 5 minute brisk walk, followed by 20 minutes of 60 second run, 90 second walk. It went by so fast and felt awesome when finished! My back was giving me some major issues today at work, but luckily Motrin took it away. Hopefully they stay away and don't return tomorrow :)

On CF2Chat last night I was talking with some fellow CFers about an FEV1 meter. So tonight I'm doing my research on one. How great would that be to check it everyday and not stress myself out beyond description over my FEV1 result the ONE day I'm at clinic 4x a year! AWESOME!! Maybe the doctors will even give me one, who knows? Can't hurt to ask and that's what I'm going to do tomorrow. I also posted the question on both CF forums I'm on...hoping for some feedback soon. That would be awesome that even if my FEV1 was down or so at my appt. be able to show them how I've been trending the other 3 months before my visit, and not just focus on one day! Yippee! I'm also shopping around for a new digital runners watch. I'm on a roll :)

Plan B

I barely slept at all last night, ugh. Came home and took a much needed LONG nap. It's ridiculously windy outside so not going to be running today. Plus it's a little colder than I expected for a run. In my previous experience running in the cold does more harm than good. I'm dissapointed :( but know I'm being too hard on myself....guess it's a good thing though?

Sunday

Where had the weekend gone? Went and saw Allison last night which was great. She's only going to be so teeny tiny and a newborn so long, so I'm enjoying every second I can. Made a lasagna for the new family and bought some garlic bread so they have dinner some nights this week. Took them over Taco Bell too since it's their favorite. It was nice to just hang out and give S and K somewhat of a break. Scott is just inlove with the baby. He looks so cute holding her, and he looks like a natural ;)

Today turned out to be a beautiful day. That kind of bugs me because I wanted to go to DC to the Cherry Blossom Festival but anticipated bad weather like the weather man called for! Grr. Oh well, took the day to clean, do laundry, etc.

Worked out a bit ago, and did 30 minutes non stop biking outside. It's very "hilly" here so It was a good work out for sure. We're having friends over tonight to enjoy this beautiful day by grilling out, having some drinks, and enjoying our campfire tonight. I've decided to follow www.coolrunning.com and do the "Couch to 5K training." I'm very excited to continue my running challenge. It encourages every other day, and since I biked today, the training starts tomorrow, then again Wednesday and Friday.

Here's to enjoying the last few hours of the weekend!

Week Rewind

Yesterday was insane at work. We ended up sending 2 patients to the ER which rarely ever happens. We think one may have had a stroke, and the other was extremely short of breath. I sure hope they are doing better today...This week was also GI Nurses week so we got treated very nicely by the company and Doctors. Got a nice gift, and were treated to several meals this week, including pizza, Chick-Fil-A, Dunkin Donuts, Q-doba, it was awesome and we felt very appreciated (always a good thing)

Dave came over on Thursday night to help us draft out our kitchen. We designed everything through IKEA's website and it looks great!! So now it's just time to do some price comparison, but I'm just so happy all the measurements etc. are done and we can get going with planning!

Went to the hospital last night with Scott and he met Allison for the first time. I just can't get enough of her! Scott looked so cute holding her, she was super tiny in his arms. Needless to say we are a very proud Aunt and Uncle :)

Today is a nice rainy Saturday and I don't mind it one bit. This week has been so insanely busy and hectic and my poor body is sooooo tired. This is a good excuse to chill out and do a lot of nothing! Although I would like to cook today, and I'm making food for Steve and Kathy since they come home with Ally today. Here's to Saturday!! Welcome home to the new family :)

She's HERE!

March 26, 2009

Welcome to the world Allison Grace! I'm very happy to announce the arrival of my niece today! All night long I kept dreaming that I was getting a call/text that she was born. Well this morning when I got up at 0440 she was being born :) Daddy Steve sent me a text message shortly after, what a way to wake up!!! I went to the hospital after work today to see them. Believe me, I couldn't get out of there fast enough. She is so tiny (7 lbs. 20 inches long) and I'm just head over heels for her! Can't wait to see Uncle Scott's reaction to his first meeting with her tomorrow.

Welcome baby girl!!!
xoxo

Waiting

It's official....my niece is due to be here any time now! I can't believe it. I've thrown the shower, felt her move in mommas stomach etc, but now it feels real!!! I can't hardly stand the excitement I am feeling!!! They are so lucky to be able to be about to experience the birth of their daughter! While I was at work today I got the call that Kathy's water broke and they were headed to the hospital. I'm pretty sure I've been "welling up" ever since.

We went to Happy Hour at Looney's in Canton after work today and had a great time. Sometimes you just need to get out and have fun with the co-workers outside of work! The whole time I kept checking my phone for a new text/update on the baby status.

Well I'm off to bed now and am hoping that things go smoothly through the night and when I wake up, I'll be an AUNTIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My thoughts and prayers tonight are with Steve, Kathy, and of course baby Ally! xoxoxo

Tuesday is my Monday

Having off yesterday has thrown me off for sure. It's ok though It was totally worth it not to work yesterday. I heard it was a hell-ish day, even if some people won't admit it! ;) Good day at work, the typical Tuesday busy busy.

Came home and worked out. I was a little bit too hard on myself today. I still kept my same mile time but I did have to stop a few times more than last time, Grrr. I probably should have just worked out inside today it was too cold to run, and my chest was burning. Note to self: Check weather before you decide to get all geared up to run, LOL! I came back, lifted weights and did some good situps. I'm just happy that I didn't give up and kept going, no pain no gain right!?

I finally realized at about 7 pm I hadn't eaten dinner yet which is weird b/c I'm always hungry! So I threw together a quick batch of Lemon Chicken, yumm!!!! Catching up on emails with some new CF people that I've met over the last few days. Just keeps getting better!

Tomorrow is G.I. nurses day! We're getting lunch and being taken to Happy Hour at Looney's in Canton, Woo Hoo!!!!!

Spring Break

Well Scott has off the entire week for Spring Break. Am I jealous that he gets to sleep in for the next 7 days, relax, and not work...nah not me ;) So we decided a few weeks ago that I should take off a day with him and have a Spring Break day. So just that I did. I decided to take off on a Monday since they are pretty rough at work. I sure am glad that I did too. We had so much fun today!

We started the day with going and getting our Passports taken care of. Now it's just the waiting part. We should have them in about 8 days woo hoo! We decided to go into the city today and hang out. We went to the Inner Harbor and went to Hooters for lunch. My goodness do they have the best wings and curly fries on the planet. Afterwards we decided to go down to Fells Point for a little while. We stopped by the "Natty Boh" store so I could get a new T-shirt since mine was ruined while white water rafting 2 years ago. We walked down to the water and just enjoyed the views and appreciated the day. Before heading home we decided to stop into the Greene Turtle and enjoy a few drinks together.

It was a great day and I sure am glad that I got a small piece of a Spring Break today...back to work tomorrow. :)

Motivation

Well I'm happy to say that I've continued to keep working out, and feel great mentally and physically. I started to feel like what could be a cold coming on just this week. Called the doc and got medicine called in if needed. Started the Zicam (which I swear by), and doing a lovely discusting sinus rince. Hey it does the trick, gross or not ;)

Anyway so I've been mixing up my workouts to keep it interesting. I've been doing Jillian Michael's "30 day shred" and whoa mama it's killer but I love it. Since the weather is warming up I started to get back outside which is nice. Ran a mile last week which I haven't done in umm......maybe 10 years at least!? I'm happy to say that I only added 5 minutes on to my mile time in 10 years! I used to run it in 7 minutes, and am at 12 now. No worries I'm going to keep going and see how I do. I was so proud of myself and am still beaming from it! Today I decided to break out the bike and do that. I did just under 4 miles in 25 minutes and was BURNING! I'm sure I'll feel it tomorrow, If I'm able to move at all, LOL! Feels so awesome to be doing this, and I'm hoping I see a difference in my PFT's in the next 1-2 months! Woo hoo!!!

SNOW!!

I'm so happy we got SNOW today and lots of it!! Woo Hoo!! :) Weird b/c it's March now, who'd have thought!? I still had to work in it this morning, Nurses = NO snow days! ha ha. Scott had off work though for the first time this year thanks to the snow. We tried to make a snowman when I got off work, put the snow is too light and won't pack. The dogs sure had a blast in it though! It was hilarious watching them in it.

Well I'm off to work out, or have my butt kicked by Jillian Michaels! The Crockpot has cooked our yummy dinner this evening...crockpot chili!! Can't wait! I'm looking forward to a night of turning of my brain because I have tons running through it apparently...
